Before your service visit
Refrigerator Not Cooling?
A refrigerator can run without cooling properly. First check the settings, door closure and visible air vents. If temperatures keep rising, arrange service; the symptom alone does not identify a failed part.
Safe checks before you book
A warm fresh-food compartment and a warm freezer are different starting points. Describe which section is affected, when you noticed it and whether the temperature changes during the day.
- Read the temperature setting and any error message. If you have an appliance thermometer, record the actual temperature too; a set temperature is not always the measured temperature.
- Check that food packages are not keeping either door open or covering the interior air vents. Look for a visible gap or damage in the door seal.
- Note a recent power outage, installation or large grocery load. Recovery time varies by model; keep door openings brief and follow the manual’s cooling instructions.
What the symptom can tell us
Freezer cold, refrigerator warm
This pattern helps focus airflow and temperature-control checks. It does not prove that a fan, damper or other part needs replacement.
Both compartments getting warm
Report whether the lights and display work, along with unusual sounds or repeated starts. Power, controls and the cooling system need model-specific checks.
Frost buildup or ice maker trouble
Photograph visible frost without removing panels. Poor ice production can accompany a temperature problem, but water-supply and ice-maker faults also need separate checks.
What to tell your technician
- Which compartment is warm: refrigerator, freezer or both?
- Is there visible frost, a water leak or an unusual fan noise?
- Is the ice maker affected too?
- Was there a recent power outage, move or earlier repair?
How the visit helps
Nikolai checks the reported symptom against your model and installation before recommending work. Cooling, airflow, defrost and control problems can produce similar complaints, so a part is not selected from the symptom alone.
